One of Ireland’s first ever wide area telemetry systems has recently been unveiled by Wexford County Council, after engineering consultancy Grontmij completed the project.
Improved management and reliability of water treatment and supply
The new system will allow accurate monitoring of Wexford’s water and waste water treatment and supply, giving improved management and reliability, and creating a more effective network.
Covering over 900 square miles and a population of 105,000 in South East Ireland, Grontmij has provided a wide range of services, from design, tender recommendations through to site supervision.
Early detection of potential problems
The telemetry system will provide ‘real time’ accurate information remotely through a web-based programme and will include features such as pre-warning alarms, meaning potential problems can be detected early.
The previous system required regular time-consuming site visits to monitor equipment and perform general maintenance. In contrast, the new system will allow out of hours management from an off-site location. Wexford County Council can then allocate engineers as required.
