Grontmij was appointed by the City of Edinburgh Council to undertake the principal inspections on ten bridge structures on The Edinburgh City Bypass and Newbridge Interchange.

The inspections were carried out on behalf of the Forth Local Authority Consortium, of which, The City of Edinburgh Council is one of eight member authorities. Each inspection was carried out in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and reported in the standard format as required by the Scottish Executive’s Trunk Roads Bridge DataBase (TRBDB).

Working in partnership

Close liaison between Grontmij, The City of Edinburgh Council and the council’s direct labour organisation, who provided access equipment and traffic management, led to a well organised and executed programme of inspections, which was completed on time and within budget. The traffic management was planned and organised to ensure minimum disruption to traffic.
