1 Jul 2010 | Grontmij takes centre stage at Water Leakage Conference 2010

Grontmij was one of the main sponsors for the inaugural 'Water Leakage Conference, 2010', which took place in the stunning venue of the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin on May 13th 2010.

The event attracted over one hundred key stakeholders in the Irish water industry, including the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government and many of the local authorities’ senior engineering employees.

Major water conservation initiative

The conference examined the current spending priorities in tackling water conservation and water leakage. Joe Corcoran, principal engineer for Grontmij, gave a paper entitled 'Controlling Water Losses, Practical Leakage Management (Six Steps to Effective Leakage Management)', which examined the best practices in UK and Ireland, at a practical level, to reduce water losses on potable water networks.

Grontmij operations director Battie White comments, “As the Government has recently announced a major initiative on water conservation, involving a three year budget of €320 million, the theme of the conference was timely and relevant. I am delighted that Grontmij’s presence at the conference was well received and attracted interest from many senior water personnel.”
