Grontmij has recently completed a series of three strategic acquisitions to bolster the company’s services portfolio with market leading niche skills.
The acquisitions provides further expertise in relation to contract dispute prevention and resolution, building services, and public realm landscape architecture. This has also brought an additional 300 employees to the company’s 1000 strong professional headcount in the UK and Ireland.

Whitelaw Turkington

The acquisition of the UK’s leading landscape architecture firm, Whitelaw Turkington makes Grontmij one of Europe’s largest players in the sector. In the UK, Whitelaw Turkington’s services will extend Grontmij’s existing capabilities in regeneration and development to include landscape design and contract administration, site planning, landscape master planning and urban design while strengthening services in environmental assessment.

Whitelaw Turkington, which is managed by founding partners Ian Turkington and Lindsey Whitelaw, has been engaged in a number of prestigious landscape design initiatives in the past year. Projects include a £3.3m contract from the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham for the urban redevelopment of Shepherd’s Bush Common and the redesign of the square that marks the entrance to The O2, the former Millennium Dome.

Roger Preston & Partners

Roger Preston & Partners’ 75 year heritage strengthens Grontmij’s building consultancy services by bringing cutting edge experience in integrated, fault-tolerant systems that provide sustainable and energy efficient solutions to new buildings. The niche practice has been involved in a number of recent high profile projects including working with architects Austin-Smith:Lord to deliver a new state-of-the-art, multi-purpose performance venue in Guildford and the development of two office blocks and a residential tower as part of the redevelopment of Waterloo in London. Managing Director, Derek Tuddenham has also led the company on numerous international projects.

Trett Consulting

The acquisition of Trett Consulting provides high level capabilities in dispute resolution and commercial and contractual advice whilst expanding the International Grontmij group as a whole into this facet of the industry. Overseen by founder and Executive Chairman Roger Trett, the company provides specialist dispute avoidance and resolution services to a range of international clients from contractors and developers, to solicitors, accountants, financial institutions, manufacturers and insurers.

Trett’s expertise enhances Grontmij’s services portfolio to include advice and analysis on contractual claims, adjudication services, investigation of issues, dispute resolution, project planning support, pre and post contract advice, quantity surveying and insolvency and liquidation support.
