Regent Circus, Swindon
Comprehensive redevelopment
The Regent Circus proposed development, within the south east corner of Swindon town centre, involves the comprehensive redevelopment of the site for a mixed-use scheme, including elements of residential, leisure and business with a hotel, cinema and supermarket.
Multi-purpose strategy
Whitelaw Turkington prepared the public realm and landscape strategy for the scheme, including the reconnection of the town centre to Swindon old town, the creation of a new public square in the heart of the cultural quarter of Swindon, and to address the boundaries with adjacent two-storey residential properties.
Townscape and visual assessment
Whitelaw Turkington also prepared the townscape and visual assessment, addressing the potential impact on adjacent sensitive historic areas, residential properties and the wider Berkshire countryside.
